Power Supply Size Guide (Wide vs. Narrow)
To allow for the safe side-by-side use of devices with integral mains pins (such as plug-in power supplies) in double or multiple socket outlets, these devices must conform to specific width dimensions. This guide explains the difference between "wide" and "narrow" power supplies.
Narrow Power Supplies (<43.8mm Wide)
Two "narrow" power supplies may be used side-by-side in a standard double power point. They will both fit and operate safely without mechanical interference.
Wide Power Supplies (>54mm Wide)
A "wide" power supply is too wide to be used next to another standard plug. Attempting to use two wide power supplies, or one wide and one narrow supply, in the same double outlet will result in one or both being displaced, preventing a safe connection.
