Internal 25-Pair Colour Code Standard
The standard colour code for multi-pair internal communications and telephone cable is built from two sets of five colours. This system allows for the easy identification of up to 25 unique wire pairs.
How the 25-Pair Colour Code Works
The system combines a primary "Tip" colour with a secondary "Ring" colour.
- The "Tip" Colours (Group 1): White, Red, Black, Yellow, Violet
- The "Ring" Colours (Group 2): Blue, Orange, Green, Brown, Slate
The first Tip colour (White) is paired with all five Ring colours to create pairs 1-5. Then, the second Tip colour (Red) is paired with all five Ring colours for pairs 6-10, and so on. This continues for all 25 pairs as shown in the table below.
