How loud is the alarm?
A single speaker connected to a Universal alarm recorded "loudness" measurements of 110db (test average) with a peak of 117db. (C-weighted results).
More than a single speaker can be connected to the speaker terminals of the Universal Alarm as long as the total load is greater than 4 ohms. Connecting two 8-ohm speakers or four 16-ohm speakers in parallel will give a larger coverage-area than just a single speaker.
The dry-contact output (screw terminals 4 & 5) from the Universal Alarm can be used to drive a self-powered piezo alarm (or a self-powered "burglar alarm" siren etc). These devices are capable of a very high db output-level. This extra alarm can be used in conjunction with one or more speakers connected to the Universal Alarm's speaker screw terminals 7 & 8.
The PA amplifier output (screw terminals 3 & 9) can be used to connect the Universal Alarm to the unbalanced auxiliary input (10K ohms) of a PA amplifier. The alarm's tones will be broadcast through the existing PA system and the volume of the PA amplifier's auxiliary input can be adjusted as loud as necessary.
